The rehabilitation, optimization and new development of district heating systems are a core competence of the Company and comprises energy generation and energy distribution.
Our Clients are typically energy service companies, municipalities and International Finance Institutions (IFIs) / Donors such as KfW, World Bank, EBRD or EIB.
We are covering the full service range from general studies, feasibility studies to design, tendering and construction supervision. In the position of the Monitoring Consultant we are supporting Lenders to assure project quality (technical, contractual, financial) and timely implementation.
The integration of renewable energy sources and related sustainable system solutions is a core competence of CES and can therefore be integrated into the planning and assessment process for district heating supply.
As regards energy generation the focus is on:
- Efficient co-generation based on conventional energy sources as well as biomass
- Biomass and biofuels
- Large Scale Thermal Solar System integration into the district heating schemes
- Geothermal energy utilization for municipal district heating
In terms of district heating network rehabilitation we typically base our analysis on hydraulic network assessments. We use STANET for detailed anaylsis, a software package that is used for simulation of broad utility networks (District Heating, Water, Sewage, Gas, Electricity). The assessment results in a strategic masterplan considering the existing facilities and future network extensions as well as the potential for district cooling.
Our project experience in Austria, the Balkans and Central Asia enables us to consider different district heating operation systems as well as different climatic conditions in our analyzes.
