Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Technical Engineer with a background in building technology with interest and experience in software engineering.
This role combines expertise in traditional building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, energy simulation) with cutting-edge software development and digitalization for innovative word class construction projects in concept and design phases. You will have the opportunity to contribute to iconic projects that integrate advanced technology, scripting, automation, and BIM-focused APIs to enhance and streamline building design processes.
This role is open to junior candidates with strong educational credentials and a passion for building technology and software development, as well as experienced engineers looking to expand their skillset into digitalization and automation.
Core focus:
- Participate in and support projects that involve building technology such as HVAC, electrical systems, lighting, controls, energy simulations.
- Develop and implement digital workflows, tools, and methods for automating building design processes.
- Script and automate processes using Python and other programming languages.
- Utilize APIs for BIM and CAD platforms (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.) to enhance project efficiency and coordination.
- Assist in interdisciplinary project management, ensuring project goals (quality, cost, timelines) are achieved.
Further Responsibilities:
- Support clients (internal and external) with technical expertise in both, building systems and digital solutions.
- Engage in the development of software applications or scripts for simulation, optimization, and analysis in building technology.
- Contribute to R&D initiatives focused on sustainable infrastructure and innovative solutions.
- Prepare and participate in tenders, ensuring alignment with technical and project requirements.
Qualification:
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in building technology, mechanical/electrical engineering, energy systems, or in a related field.
- Solid foundation in building technology (HVAC, electrical, lighting, energy simulation, etc.)
- Programming proficiency (Python or experience with other languages).
- Basic understanding of BIM tools, such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
- High motivation, flexibility, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Fluency in German and/or English.
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on with scripting, automation, or tool development in the design phase of building technology.
- Working with APIs for BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, or others).
- Understanding of software development concepts such as Agile, Version Control, AWS, etc.
- Knowledge of advanced software like EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, Plancal, or similar.
- Technical Building Equipment (TGA) planning experience.
- Familiarity with digitalization trends in the construction and building technology sectors.
- Proficiency in other programming languages (e.g., C#, JavaScript).
- Expertise in creating custom tools or plugins for design software.
- Additional spoken languages are of advantage.
