The youth center Korneuburg (built between 1899 and 1980) was extensively renovated and adapted to the requirements of today. Due to the expected exceeding of the dimensional limit (750 tons; <3,500 m³ enclosed space) during the construction work, the obligatory execution of a pollutant and contaminant investigation had emerged. Problematic building materials had to be identified and disposed of properly and professionally before demolition.

Experts from CES led the implementation of a comprehensive pollutant and contaminant investigation. A walk-through plan was developed in advance to identify potentially problematic pre-uses of the buildings and to assess the potential presence of problematic materials. In case of doubt, material samples were taken for analysis during the walk-through and recorded in images. The final documentation includes the listing and location of the pollutants and contaminants, as well as a quantity and cost estimate.
