A new phase of the Renewable Energies Programme is envisaged with the objective to promote the private investments in Renewable Energies in Armenia. By achieving the objective, the planned Project contributes to stable, affordable and environmentally friendly energy production in Armenia. The investments funded by the German-Armenian Financial Cooperation shall be used for the rehabilitation, extension and new construction of RE. The German-Armenian Fund (GAF) will be the Project-Executing Agency (PEA) within the project and the state-owned Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund (R2E2) could be actively involved in the assessment and monitoring of potential biomass projects.

OUr services

Preparation of a biomass and/or biogas supply assessment; Assessment of current usage of biomass; Analysis on the treatment of left overs for the potential biomass facilities; Assessment of current legal and regulatory framework conditions with regards to the biomass sector in Armenia to analyse bioenergy potentials for private sector investments as well as assessment on existing biomass pilot projects; Preparation of a tariff study; Analysis and recommendations regarding possible subsidy and feed-in tariff schemes for biomass plants, examination of competitiveness with gas and electricity tariffs and tariffs for Small Hydro Power Plants; Identification of potential future biomass customers; Identification of up to 5 suitable pilot project locations in the field of biomass for heat or heat and electricity generation in Armenia; Comparison and selection of the most promising location. Conduct technical and financial feasibility assessment of the identified location; Discussion with the relevant Armenian stakeholders on the base case financial performance indicators valid in the third phase of the GAF RE Programme andnecessary adaptions; Identification of necessary technical assistance (TA) to ensure the sustainability of Project results; Preparation and presentation of outcome indicator for the usage of biomass plants, based on SMART criteria.
