The company ecoFUELS is a biodiesel producer located in Krems an der Donau. The project objective was the optimization of the production process with the goal to improve efficiency and increasing the production capacity.
The project required the analysis of the existing biodiesel production processes and the elaboration and assessment of optimization options. The finally approved and designed retrofit and upgrading measures include the following process areas: New process equipment (dispersers instead of mixers in trans-esterification); Oil drying; Acid esterification (incl. storage for sulfuric acid of 96%); Glycerine phase treatment.
