The objective of the project was to carry out energy audits of the buildings and facilities of the University based on the requirements and methodologies proposed in the European Standard EN 16247:2014. When carrying out the energy audits, the Consultant also followed the applicable national and European legislation and standards. The Consultant presented a proposal for a building renovation package for each of the buildings and facilities of the University.
The overall objective of the Ukraine Higher Education project is to reduce the running costs of participating state higher education institutions and to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and academic research facilities. The Energy Efficiency Component included energy efficiency investments aiming at the refurbishment of existing teaching, research, and supporting facilities in the participating universities to improve their energy efficiency. The energy efficiency investments included improvements to the building envelope, heating, and ventilation, hot water systems as well as lighting and electric installations. Moreover, the refurbishment of heat supply systems, including the installation of modern boilers, individual substations, and metering devices was foreseen. As part of the renovation of local district heating networks, the project explored opportunities to introduce renewable energy sources.
