  • Austria – TAG Major Valve Station Renewal: Asbestos Related Site Supervision

Corrosion protection measures carried out on the gas pipeline (TAG 1) in the valve stations required the removal of asbestos-containing insulation. Safety measures for the protection of people and the environment were to be adopted and supervised. Trans Austria Gasleitung GmbH (TAG GmbH) was planning to renovate 2 Major Valve Stations. The insulation of the TAG 1 pipeline and associated valve group and blow-out piping contained asbestos. The insulation must be removed and disposed of according to the enclosed asbestos removal concept. The asbestos-specific construction site supervision was required for this work.

OUr services

CES was awarded the development of a remediation concept and attended the excavation works, whereby workers were instructed on the safe handling of asbestos products. CES approved the remediation zone set-up and performed periodic checks of the work progress. Following the finalisation of asbestos-related works, air fiber measurements were installed and analysed by an accredited laboratory, before the final acceptance statement „asbestos-free“ was submitted.
