Austria – TAG 1 Gas Pipeline: Supervision of Asbestos Abatement Works

Within the Framework of corrosion protection measures, the asbestos insulation of the buried gas pipeline (TAG 1) was replaced by an asbestos-free product. Accordingly, professional construction supervision of the asbestos abatement work was required. For the removal of the asbestos-containing gas line insulation, a remediation concept suitable for this specific task was developed, verified, and implemented. This was done in coordination with the HSEQ representatives of the relevant authorities to meet all legal requirements. Reference remediation tested the concept in a field trial to determine its remediation success. The contracted remediation firm implemented the accepted remediation concept and was inspected at all remediation steps. After completion of the work, the remediation success was verified by air measurements.
